GPS Tracer - How it works

The GPS tracer consists of a small box combining a GPS receiver and a GSM module. The location informations received from the satellites are saved in the internal memory, and can be sent thanks to the GSM module.

Knowing where the vehicule is

The thing to do to get the location information, is to call the GPS Tracer with a mobile phone. The GPS Tracer recognises the calling telephone, but doesn’t pick up avoiding any calling fees to the caller, and sends immediately and automatically an SMS indicating the geographic position, in GPS coordinates. Then, enter the received coordinates in a road map commercial software like Microsoft Mappoint, or for free on our webpage "tools", in order to display the exact position of the equipped vehicle.

The other informations available in the SMS are

• Date
• Time
• Speed
• Mileage
• Internal tenperature
• Voltage

The GPS Tracer can also be set to send automatically an SMS in some cases, chosen by the user

• Time interval (ex. every 20 mn)
• Pre set time (ex.at 8h10)
• Distance interval(ex. tous les 5 km)
• When entering a determined geographic zone
• When leaving a determined geographic zone
• Speed over a pre set limit

The GPS Tracer is the only product on the market which doesn’t require a message service with a surcharge to receive its position by SMS

Knowing where the vehicule has been

When the vehicle is back, you just need to connect the GPS Tracer to a PC,in order to get the history of all the journeys made (the last 6000 positions are saved. All this is done without any cost, without any SMS, because in this case the SMS module is not used.

After the downloading, the data is displayed in a table where every line corresponds to a record. In each of these line, there’s a direct link to the road maps available online (as on our webpage `tools´ allowing to view the exact position of the vehicle at a given time.

(The quality of the images is now voluntarily reduced to allow a better display speed).

In order to go further and get all the records on the same map, you just need to transfer the data on a commercial software map. We have tested and approved Microsoft Mappoint (cost about 400 €) and also Microsoft Autoroute (cost about 70 €), but many other mapping softwares can do the job. The results are then displayed as shown :

Every red flag corresponds to a record, on which a click allows to get all the details.
